ISIS & OSIRIS
This project is an art toy set, designed primarily for adults who appreciate mythology, storytelling, and collectible design. It brings to life the myth of Isis and Osiris, one of the most fascinating and dramatic stories in Egyptian mythology. The concept behind this toy set was to reinterpret an ancient myth through interactive storytelling, allowing users to engage with the narrative in a hands-on way.
According to the myth, Osiris, the god of the afterlife, was betrayed and killed by his jealous brother, Set. His body was dismembered and scattered across the Nile. His devoted wife, Isis, the goddess of life and magic, embarked on a quest to find and reassemble his body, ultimately restoring him to life. Inspired by this tale of devotion and resurrection, I designed Osiris as a figure with detachable body parts, mimicking the fragmented state in which Isis found him. The pieces were 3D printed separately but can be reassembled using joints, mirroring the act of restoration that Isis performed in the myth.
The visual design reflects the symbolic elements of the story: Isis is depicted holding an ankh, the symbol of life, while Osiris is adorned with traditional Egyptian regalia. The packaging also plays an integral role in storytelling, incorporating hieroglyph-inspired graphics and hidden messages that guide the user through the myth. The box design unfolds like an ancient Egyptian papyrus, gradually revealing layers of the story as one interacts with it.
By blending mythology with modern toy design, this project transforms an ancient legend into a tangible, interactive experience. It encourages users to explore the power of myth, resurrection, and devotion through a playful yet meaningful medium.
